Aura — AI-Assisted SEO Titles and Descriptions Inside WordPress

Writing a good SEO title and meta description for every post on your site is one of those tasks that sounds simple and never quite gets done properly.

Most site operators either write them quickly without much thought, copy the post headline directly into the title field, or skip them entirely and let WordPress generate something generic. The result is a library of content that ranks below its potential because the metadata — the first thing Google and readers see in search results — wasn’t given the attention it deserved.

Aura is Blacklight’s answer to that problem.

What Aura does

Aura connects an AI provider to your WordPress installation and uses it to generate suggested SEO titles and meta descriptions for your posts and pages. When you’re editing any post, the MetaMaster panel shows Aura’s suggestions alongside your existing title and description fields. You can accept a suggestion, edit it, or ignore it and write your own.

That’s the entire scope of what it does. It doesn’t write your content. It doesn’t do keyword research or competitor analysis. It focuses on the two metadata fields that most directly affect how your content appears in search results and whether people click through to read it.

Why titles and descriptions matter

Your SEO title and meta description are your organic search advertisement. They’re what appears in Google when someone searches for a topic you’ve written about. A well written title gets clicks. A weak one gets scrolled past even when the ranking is good.

Most SEO advice focuses heavily on on-page content, backlinks and technical factors — and those all matter. But the title and description are the point where all that work either converts into a click or doesn’t. Aura helps you get that part right without spending ten minutes on every post.

Choosing your AI provider

Aura supports multiple AI providers so you can use whichever you already have access to or prefer:

  • OpenAI — GPT-4o and other models
  • Anthropic — Claude models
  • Google Gemini — including a free tier via Google AI Studio

If you want to try Aura without any cost, Google Gemini offers a free API key at aistudio.google.com. Select Gemini as your provider, paste your key, save your settings and Aura is ready to use.

The approval is always yours

Aura generates suggestions — it never applies anything automatically without your review. Every suggestion appears in the MetaMaster editor for you to read, adjust and decide on before it goes anywhere near your live site.

This matters because AI suggestions aren’t always right. They’re a starting point, not a final answer. Aura gives you a competent first draft of your metadata so you spend less time staring at a blank field and more time making small improvements to something that’s already mostly there.

How it fits into Blacklight

Aura works directly with MetaMaster — Blacklight’s metadata management module. Where MetaMaster gives you the fields and the control, Aura gives you AI assistance to fill them well. The two modules are designed to work together.

As Blacklight develops, Aura will expand to cover more of the SEO automation tasks that currently require manual effort — flagging posts with weak metadata, suggesting improvements to existing titles, and connecting with other modules to surface opportunities across your site.

For now it does one thing and does it cleanly: helps you write better titles and descriptions, faster.
